How to Build an Electric Guitar From Wood Blanks
Duration: 16 weeks (4 months), 2 hours/week (2/3 students per class)
Level: Beginner-Intermediate
Objective: Learn the art of lutherie and build a professional-grade guitar from scratch alongside Master Luthier Armand Sentous.
Course Outline:
Month 1: Design and Planning (Weeks 1-4)
- Guitar design principles
- Choosing body shape, neck style, and wood
- Creating a detailed build plan
Month 2: Woodworking and Body Construction (Weeks 5-8)
- Wood preparation and cutting
- Body shaping and sanding
- Neck construction and fitting
Month 3: Neck and Fingerboard Work (Weeks 9-12)
- Fingerboard installation and leveling
- Fret installation and dressing
- Neck shaping and finishing
Month 4: Final Assembly and Setup (Weeks 13-16)
- Bridge and electronics installation
- String setup and intonation
- Final polishing and inspection
